• Brain Control of Thirst

  The Research Imaging Center at the UTHSCSA is seeking healthy individuals who are 18-30 to participate in a study about the brain control of thirst.

  Subjects who agree to participate in the study will make 3 visits to the RIC and will undergo Pet scanning and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and will have to ride a stationary bike.

  Primary Investigator: Peter T. Fox, M.D.

  All Studies performed at McDermott Clinical Sc. Bldg (North Campus).

  You will be compensated $575 for the complete study. If you don't complete the study you will be compensated $25 for each hour you have completed.

• Positron Emission Tomography (18-40)

  The Research Imaging Center at the UTHSCSA is seeking healthy individuals who are 18-40 years old to participate in a study of Pet imaging.

  Subjects who agree to participate in the study will make one visit ( 5 hours) to the RIC and will undergo Positron Emission Tomography (PET).

  • All studies performed at McDermott Clinical Sc. Bldg (North Campus).

  You will be compensated $ 60 per hour for the part of this study you complete. The study will take a total of 5 hours. The total compensation you may receive for the study is $300.

• Brain Structure Study (18-55)

  The Research Imaging Center at the UTHSCSA is seeking healthy individuals who are 18-55 to participate in a study of brain structures.

  Subjects who agree to participate in the study will make 1 visit to the RIC and will undergo

  • Psychological Testing and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

  • All studies performed at McDermott Clinical Sc. Bldg (North Campus).

  You will be compensated $200 for the complete study (7 hours). If you don't complete the study you will be compensated $25 for each hour you have completed.

• Brain Structure Study (55+)

  The Research Imaging Center at the UTHSCSA is seeking healthy individuals who are 55 + to participate in a study of brain structures.

  Subjects who agree to participate in the study will make 1 visit to the RIC and will undergo

  • Psychological Testing and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

• Stutterers (18-65)

  The Research Imaging Center at the UTHSCSA is seeking individuals who stutter, 18-65 years old, and right handed and have a home computer with internet access to participate in a study of stuttering therapy.

  Subjects who agree to participate in the study will receive therapy and will undergo 5 sessions of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and 5 sessions of Positron Emission Tomography (PET).

• Non-Stutterers (18-65)

  The Research Imaging Center at the UTHSCSA is seeking non-stuttering individuals who are 18-65 years old and right handed to participate in a study of stuttering therapy.

  Subjects who agree to participate in the study will make 3 to 4 visits to the RIC and will undergo 3 sessions of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and 3 sessions of Positron Emission Tomography (PET).

• Stutterers (18-65)

• TMS Induced Performance Enhancement

  Healthy Volunteers Needed

  The Research Imaging Center at the UTHSCSA is seeking healthy individuals who are 18-50 years old and right handed to participate in a study of mechanism of action of TMS induced performance enhancement.

  Subjects who agree to participate in the study will make daily visits to the RIC for four weeks and will undergo sessions of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Electromyography (EMG).

• Bipolar Sibling Study

  DO YOU SUFFER FROM BIPOLAR DISORDER?

  We are looking for subjects who have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder for a study on brain structure and function. The study consists of computerized testing and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Financial compensation is provided.

  We are looking for subjects who:

  • Are between the ages of 20-60.
  • Have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.
  • Do not have any non-removable metal objects or pacemakers remaining in their body (i.e. staples, rods, pins, mesh implants).
  • Have a brother or sister in the San Antonio/Bexar County area, which will be willing to participate with you in the study. Your brother or sister must not have a history of any psychiatric disorder.

  This study is being conducted by David C. Glahn Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychiatry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio.
