Dr. Fox received his B.A. in Liberal Arts in 1975 in the Great Books Program of St. Johns College, Annapolis, Maryland. Thesis work on epistemology and the philosophy of science laid the groundwork for a career in the application of advanced imaging methods to the study of human cognition. Graduating from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1979, Dr. Fox completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center in 1980 and a Residency in Neurology at Washington University School in 1983. Formal training in imaging began in 1983 with a Research Fellowship in Radiotracer Imaging at the birthplace of PET, Dr. Michel Ter- Pogossians Radiation Sciences Laboratory at Washington University. After several years as a faculty member at Washington University Medical School, Dr. Fox joined Johns Hopkins University Medical School in 1989 and helped launch the Mind/Brain Institute. Dr. Fox directs the Research Imaging Center, using positron-emission tomography, anatomical magnetic resonance imaging, functional magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, event- related potentials, and transcranial magentic stimulation to explore human brain function. Dr. Fox is the Editor of Human Brain Mapping, a journal of human behavioral neuroimaging. Affiliations. |
