An FVM Model of Overt Semantic Generation

The task to be modeled is the serial generation of verbs when visually presented with common nouns at a rate of 1 per second. The control task is visual fixati on on a central cross-hair. While this task requires the use of every object in the FVM library, this was deliberate. We have constructed the objects necessar y to build a reasonable detailed model of the overt semantic generation task. S impler tasks, using subsets of the FVM library modules, can easily be envisioned . For example, the reviewer is invited to construct a system-model of a covert semantic monitoring task in which one silently decides whether visually presente d nouns belong to a category (such as dangerous animals or abstract concepts).

The FVM System model was visualized as topographically, volumetrically, and as a n animated movie.
