Surface Resolution

Postby bryanwong88 » Tue Feb 06, 2018 3:54 pm

Hello all,

This is my first post here. I was able to figure out how to build a 3D surface mesh from MRI.gii, however the resolution of the exterior surface of the brain is very smooth and unresolved (attached example below). As a result the gyri and sulci are indistinguishable. Is there a certain parameter that I can adjust to achieve a higher resolution? When I increase the Min Thresh past 1300.0, there is an error sign that pops up.

My current build settings were:

Min Thresh: 900.0
Shrink Wrap: Yes
Image Smoothing: Width=2.0; Kernel=3
Resolution: X=0.4 Y=0.4 Z=0.4
Surface Smoothing: Error= 0.08; Angle= 44.0 degrees ; Iterations=1
Build Time: 99.92 sec
Points= 1416545; Triangles= 2844148

Raising the threshold is the best way to see more definition. If you got an error message with a certain threshold it might be because you raised it too high resulting in no data left to build the surface on.
